Hackney Freight Portal
A bespoke website aimed to help Business make their deliveries in accordance to the loading and waiting restrictions within the borough. This is one of our more technical sites that has been designed to integrate into the User’s template and use the styling dictated by their corporate image.
At first glance, the site appears relatively straightforward with several datasets plotted onto detailed street mapping with different map zooms. Controls allow the user to manage the data displayed and search tools to query and find the nearest facility. However, a more careful inspection will reveal considerable background work PIE has developed in order to make the site easy to use. A closer look at the Ordnance Survey Mastermap data will show how we have embedded the client’s data into the map. PIE has styled the OS mapping and incorporated the weight restriction zone boundaries and the Red Routes data into the base mapping.
PIE has extensive capabilities in the spatial arena and we have used this expertise to ensure:
- data aligns with the roads or associated map feature
- symbols do not overlap the labels
- banned turns are shown with the correct angle
In addition, our profound understanding of the OS and ITN data allows us to extract and recreate maps to the exact User requirement.
PIE are leading the way for identifying a bespoke Freight map that will one day be as easy to understand as a typical A-Z road map.
