PIE becomes data provider to Bing
26/08/2009
On the 29th July, Microsoft giants announced that they were partnering up in a 10 year deal with Yahoo, in a bid to rattle the cage of search engine Google. The Decision Engine - “Bing” (beta) promises to deliver a richer experience for web trawlers, by delivering multi - media search results and provide customers with the opportunity to move beyond traditional search capabilities and make faster, more informed decisions, with Multimap API as a part of the Bing mapping platform.
PIE Enterprises were delighted by a recent agreement with Microsoft, to supply a fully comprehensive national dataset of UK petrol stations to integrate within the Bing mapping function. PIE will be providing information on all UK petrol stations and more importantly complimenting each site with detailed information to include accessibility levels and facilities at each location. PIE will also be providing service information for hauliers and the availability of the “Service Call” feature for drivers with restricted mobility, who need to know which petrol stations provide an attended service.
Freddie Talberg, PIE's CEO commented. “Being asked to be part of the new Bing service is a great salutation to PIE as data aggregators in the UK. This is a real testament to our creditability and the quality of our extensive databases. We certainly hope that more quality PIE data will be used by Bing in the future”
