Freight Gateway for Wiltshire

PIE is pleased to announce that Wiltshire Council  has recently signed up for PIE’s Freight Gateway Solution. We are extremely pleased to have Wiltshire Council on board and this further strengthens are unique National Freight Gateway Network. Hauliers and freight operators will be able to use Wiltshire’s Advisory Route Network to route their vehicles on the roads that are appropriate for these types of vehicles.

The system utilises height, weight and width information, low bridge information, parking restrictions and various other obstacles that many mobile satellite navigation devices are not configured to route round. This blend will help residents of Wiltshire see an improvement in safety, reduction in noise and reduction in pollution in those areas, whilst hauliers and freight operators will see a marked improvement in stop start consumption for fuel, better traffic flow management and the use of suitable roads for their vehicles.

Wiltshire Council will have the next generation freight network and we believe they have taken the next steps in executing their strategic vision and building a closer partnership with hauliers and freight operators.
